Safety

Leonard Contracting is committed to providing a safe work environment for all company personnel. Safety is the #1 priority on any job site, from pre-construction through completion, and it is an integral part of Leonard Contracting’s corporate culture.

This dedication to safety is supported through bi-weekly safety training meetings for all employees, project-specific agreements that include safety rules with all subcontractors, and weekly safety meetings on all active projects, which are conducted by superintendents.

Furthermore, Leonard Contracting has utilized the services of a third-party safety consultant since 2005 to assist with training programs, and encourages and expects the consultant to perform unannounced site inspections each month to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.

Equally, if not most importantly, all Leonard Contracting personnel are authorized, and have a responsibility, to stop work if they observe an unsafe act or condition on a job site. Affected work can only proceed once the conditions are corrected and it is safe to continue.

Leonard Contracting employees attend training as it pertains to their duties. In most cases, that includes specific safety instruction on the majority, if not all, of the following topics:

  • First Aid and CPR
  • Blood Bourne Pathogens
  • Electrical Safety
  • Fire Safety and Extinguisher Use
  • Globally Harmonized System (previously Hazard Communication)
  • Fall Protection
  • Personnel Protective Equipment
  • Scissor and Aerial Boom Lifts
  • Scaffolding
  • Specialty Tool Training
  • OSHA 10-hour Training
  • OSHA 30-hour Training

Leonard Contracting is an alcohol and drug-free work environment. Each employee is subject to pre-employment testing, random testing, and post-accident testing.

Leonard Contracting employees must pass a background check prior to employment.
